National PTA Mission Statement

• The purpose of the PTA is to provide programs that enhance educational opportunities for children, teachers, and the community.
• The PTA provides a structure where parents can have a voice in the school system.
• The PTA provides advocacy for all children in the Lincoln Public Schools.
• The PTA provides a link between parent and teacher communities, and enhances communication among all elements of the school system and the parents.

 

J.J Daniell Middle School PTSA Mission Statement

The J.J. Daniell Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is an organization deciated to facilitating a closer relationship between home and school, helping foster a sense of school pride in our students for their community, providing the school community with information, and enhancing/enriching our student's academic growth.

 

PTSA Goals For 2007/2008

Embrace a sense of school spirit and pride.

• Provide PTSA and school information at “Orientation” to introduce new families to J.J Daniell programs and activities.
• Encourage our parent community to use Publix and Kroger Commitment Cards which financially benefits the school.
• Encourage student involvement by adding a Student Representative position to the PTSA Board.
• Offer school spirit wear for students.

 

Facilitate ongoing educational opportunities for the J.J. Daniell Community.

• Provide free, educational evening seminars for parents.
• Offer mini educational presentations at several PTSA meetings.
• Provide free, educational seminars on a variety of teen oriented topics during school hours for students.
• Support staff educational needs through Teacher Mini Grants.

 

Pursue improved communication within the J.J. Daniell Community.

• Expand use of the PTSA website as an information resource for parents, teachers and students.
• Transition the “Dolphin Tales” school newsletter to include electronic distribution (via email), while continuing to produce a hardcopy format to go home to parents with Progress Reports and Report Cards.
• Send parents important updates and information by electronic distribution (via email).
• Support non-English speaking families by offering help with translation of important information and activities.

 

Promote family and community involvement with the school.

• Offer parents, the business community and other area schools the opportunity to participate in the PTSA Carnival Fund Raiser.
• Provide local businesses the opportunity to promote their services or products to our school community by sponsoring a “Dolphin Tales” newsletter.
• Give early promotion of volunteer opportunities for parents to participate in PTSA activities through the “Dolphin Tales” newsletter and on our web site.
• Provide parents the ability to easily contact PTSA Presidents through email or by telephone to discuss issues or give assistance.
• Be more inclusive of our diverse populations by offering Spanish translation of important PTSA information.
